Released November 11, 2017
The Panhellenic Association at the University of Michigan supports the vote made by the Interfraternity Council on November 9th, 2017 to suspend all Interfraternity Council social activities and new member education in the interim. This decision specifically pertains to the aforementioned council, but inevitably impacts the Greek Community as a whole.
The Panhellenic Association will uphold this decision by not participating in any joint social events with any Interfraternity Council organization for the duration of the suspension. We recognize this has been made to focus on the health, safety, and well-being of all Greek Life students at the University of Michigan and we support that effort.
Holding all members of the Greek Community at the University of Michigan to a high standard resonates with the values our individual organizations were each founded upon. In light of this decision made by the Interfraternity Council, The Panhellenic Association will continue its organizational activities, but will strive to address our own challenges and concerns as a community with creative and impactful solutions.
During this time, we urge all Greek-affiliated members to reflect on the enrichment Greek Life at The University of Michigan has made to our collegiate experience. The Panhellenic Association recognizes our community is comprised of invaluable leaders, but we also realize there is always work to be done as we strive towards our best.
