The Greek Community Addresses the Topic of Mental Health

It was December 5, 2016, there was one microphone, a room full of people and the leaders of our four councils stood at the front of a podium in the Michigan Union. Before them in this same room had been speeches, assemblies, dinners, and events over the course of the 99 years the building has stood. But this day was a first. Our community was holding the first ever Greek Life Mental Health Speakout.


Fall 2016 Achievement Expectations Report

On February 17, 2017, the Greek Community released the Achievement Expectations report for Fall 2016. This report provides an overview of participation, summary points and council statistics.

The Office of Greek Life, Center for Campus Involvement, Department of AfroAmerican and African Studies, and the Center for World Performance Studies were pleased to bring Step Afrika to campus on Thursday, January 26th at 7:00pm in the Mendlessohn Theater.

Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society Holds Fall 2016 Initiation

 On December 7th, 2016 Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Honor Society initiated over 80 members, the largest class since their introduction into our community in March of 1994. ​Fraternity and sorority affiliated members who hold a GPA above 3.7 and junior or senior standing were invited to join the organization, which offers a multitude of benefits for its members. Current executive board members Lexi Wung, Hailey Olds, Brittany Allen, and Megan Taylor led the initiation at the Delta Gamma Annex, which was followed by refreshments and conversation.

Mental Health Speakout

The Greek Community is starting up a mental health awareness campaign the week of December 5, 2016,  beginning with a Mental Health Speakout  December 5th at 8pm in Union Pendleton Room! The campaign is dedicated to facilitating conversation about mental health struggles in the Greek community, whether it be related to anxiety, stress, body image, hyper-masculinity, cultural stigma, etc. In addition to the Speakout there will be a vareity of video messages from the four councils released over the next 2 months.
