The Multicultural Greek Council, consisting of both fraternities and sororities, was established at the University of Michigan in 2002. With a focus on specific ethnicities and/or cultures or multiculturalism in general, these organizations are united to serve as a unique voice and advocate for their respective communities. Service and education are of primary importance, and social activities complete a well-rounded experience for these students.
Organizations that are not members of the Multicultural Greek Council (or one of the other three councils) do not particiate in Greek Life sponsored events, nor do they receive the same benefits, recognition or oversight. A fraternity or sorority may be a registered student organization through Maize Pages, but they are not affiliated with the Greek Community unless they are listed as one of our chapters.
