Raymond Smith-Byrd receiving award

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated's International Leadership Conference brings together the leaders of the fraternity at large to discuss fraternity business, announce new candidates for leadership, provide opportunity for fellowship, and acknowledge brothers making a positive impact in the world. The 2017 Leadership Conference was hosted August 2-6 (2017) in Cincinnati, OH at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

It was at this conference where one of our University of Michigan Fraternity and Sorority Community leaders, Raymond Smith-Byrd, was awarded the honor of the International Undergraduate Omega Man of the Year. The honor of International Undergraduate Omega Man of the Year is awarded to an applicant who is nominated by brothers in District leadership, wins the Undergraduate Omega Man of the Year award on the District level first, has contributions and achievements with chapter and local community impact, has contributions and achievements with district and regional impact, and has contributions and achievements with national and international impact. 

Raymond is from Detroit, MI and a senior studying Industrial and Operations Engineering. This past summer, he spent his time in Portland, OR interning with NIKE, Inc. as a Footwear Product Integrity Analyst. On campus, he currently serves as the President of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Basileus (President) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Phi Chapter. He was initiated into his fraternity in the Spring of 2016.
