The Hazing Task Force (HTF) is both an investigative body that investigates hazing allegations within the Greek Community per the Greek Community Hazing Policy and an educational body dedicated to teaching Michigan students about what hazing is, its effects, and how to prevent it. The main educational event of HTF is its annual Hazing Prevention Week. Hazing Prevention Week was October 14-18, 2013.
On October 15th, there was a HTF sponsored fundraiser at Pizza House in order to raise money for an outside organization dedicated to hazing prevention and education. Everyone was encouraged to order or dine in to support this great cause. Then, on October 16th and October 17th the Hazing Task Force hosted round tables with each of the four councils
The final day of Hazing Prevention Week was an event in the Diag. On Friday, October 18th from 10am-3pm HTF had a table set up in the Diag to educate Michigan students about hazing and to pass out sunglasses and ribbons. The task force encouraged everyone involved in Greek Life to wear black on this day to show that the community is united against hazing.
More information and reminders about the week’s events will be posted on HTF’s Facebook page which everyone in Greek Life is encouraged to Like. Additionally, if anyone has any questions regarding Hazing Prevention Week or the Hazing Task Force or if you need to report an incident of hazing please do so at firstname.lastname@example.org.
