Greek Week 2014 took place March 25-April 2nd. Fraternities and sororities from IFC, Panhel and MGC came together to participate in nine days of fun, service and fundraising. 15 teams were paired together in January and selected team names reflecting the theme of "Greek Week Awards"
Greek Week kicked off with it annual Journey of Dreams event at Rackham Audiorium. The charities that recieved donations after Greek Week each spoke about themsleves and students learned alot about how the money they raises would help others. The 2014 chairities were the Coalition on Temporary Shelter of Detroit (COTS), Aware Shelter, Miracle League of Michigan, Camp Kesem, Michigan Abilities Center, and Girls on the Run of Southeast Michigan.
Events during Greek Week included the annual Red Cross Blood Drive where students donated over 200 pints of blood. In addition, there were service project days with activities such as assembling school supply packs for 826 National, survival packs for Camp Take Notice, and and memory balloon ties for Ele’s Place.
During the week, teams competed in a wide array of events including Greek Olympics, Tug-O-War, volleyball, and Sing & Variety. Points from each event were added together crown a winner. The 2014 Greek Week champions was Team Most Likley to Bread a World Record - Alpha Phi and Pi Kappa Phi.
At the conclusion of Greek Week, over $53,000 was donated to the 6 charities and to the national foundations of the chapters on the winning team.
